    Exhaust Question.

    Hi,
Why does my exhaust 'rasp' when its cold?. I hav a remus section with a peco backbox on it. When u 1st start the engine and accelerate away it rasps but this stops after it has warmed up a little.
    Just wondering why this was.

    Thanks
    Nick

Possibly caused by a tiny air leak in the exhaust somewhere, which closes up when it gets warm. Or maybe a joint that isn't tightened properly, and closes up for same reason.

Or maybe your manifold and/or gasket is going, and it's not the exhaust after all...

I know a few engines that rasp on start up because of the EGR valve... by adding that exhaust system maybe you've amplified the sound that was only very minimal before...

To be honest dont go to fast when you 1st start your car. One it will stop the noise and Two will help the oil warm up and make your engine last a bit longer

Can you tell roughly where the noise is coming from?

If you can get the car on a ramp, get someone inside the car and get them to start it from cold and have a listen. If its coming from the tail pipe, its just the sound of the exhaust.
