    FAO the pilots on here

    reading a few threads a few days ago, few people talkin about learning to fly etc. how would i go about obtaining my ppl, i know 45 hours min is needed, but dont know how to get this off the ground (excuse the pun )

    look in the yellow pages or similar for a local flight training school, most large airports will have one (usually one the frieght side of the airport or private jets etc).

    If you go through a school it will be a lot easier, lessons used to be around £40 per half hour, and you can only take your test after a minimum of 45 hours but most need a lot more than that. IIRC once you are ready to take the test it costs a fair bit as you have to pay for the test, hire of plane, fuel, insurance etc etc. Once passed you are able to fly twin seater planes only and need more lessons and flying time to move up the ladder.

    Its a lot of money but great fun, I have doen 2 hours flying and I have got to logged and registered, you can take your time to learn but its a long slog. I did mine about 10 years ago now and would have loved to carry it on but it cost too much.

    Go for it, even if its just for one lesson its something everyone should experiance

    in that case it'll probably be scary at first for you in a small plane, especially if there's a bit of wind/turbulence because they do get knocked about a bit.... but have faith

    My family has a long run of piolts, shame it stopped at me and skipped to my nephew, he 16 and just got his piolts licence thourgh the raf, would have loved to do it
