Exclamation Removing gear/handbrake surround from Astra Mk4

I've read the HOW TO on how to removed the centre console but any advice on how to remove the gear surround and handbrake surround as well? Is it just a wee bit of brute strength and it will pop out or more to it than that?

    Thanks!

if you remove the little plastic bit under the handbrake.(where the port is for the tech 2) you will to two torq screws undo them and the gear surround comes off

Does it just remove with a little brute force? I've never done this before.

...you need to prise up the plastic 'D' shaped panel from under the handbrake....
it's quite tight, if you have thin scraper rather than a screwdriver it's easier.

Then as said it reveals two torx screws for the gearstick surround....

Managed to get a centre console and the gear/handbrake surrounds removed from a car at the scrapyard.

Only thing is when I removed the centre console the heating vents and dials came to. I've removed the heating dials but the vents are not budging, any advice on how to remove them without wasting the centre console?

Also under the wee panel circled in red in the photo:

There were wee "fuses" or something electrical there are no switches there, anyone know what they are for? Are they in antcipation of the heating seats switches?

    Thanks!

    Heating vents have been removed.

Still trying to figure out what those electrical connections were under the panel as indicated in the photo above though?
