    gear problem

Got a mk4 (g) astra. since yesterday when I accelerate in first gear only, it feels giddery, like the same feeling when the car wheel spins then suddenly gets traction.

its only in 1st. it sounds like the clutch to me but i would like a 2nd opinion..before going to the mechanics.

since its a 2003 with less then 33k on the clock.. will this be covered in a warranty..if it is the clutch.. ?

ive never know this problem with such a low mileage car.. can it be passed off as mechanical failure and not wear and tear?

    any help much appriecated.

have you got this via a finance company? If so, can I be nosy and ask which one?

If not, have you purchased your own MBI (Mechanical breakdown cover)?

Yep sounds like clutch slip to me.

Mileage is somewhat irrelevant, as it's more a case of how the car has been used -ie town driving will causes more wear than motorway driving. Also how the clutch has been used in that time.

As for the warranty, you'll need to read the small print for that

sorry I jumped to conclusions with the wear and tear policy.

Still you can't expect a clutch to go that quickly.

Second hand cars usually have 3 months warranty unless stated otherwise, so you could take it back under that (if applicable)
