Question Astra-Sport site search engine BHP??

how powerful is the Astra-Sport Forum search engine?

does it search anything like google or ebay search engines ?

can you do AND searchs ? or is it always OR ?

    are +, -, &, Commas, *, speechmarks, uppercase - all not supported ?

does it dis regard any word 3 characters or less ?

    for example

    search: TFT Console Black

would 1. not search TFT, 2. search for console OR black ?

many thanks if u could shed some light here

It cant serach for most 3 letter words as "the", "and" etc are too commonlyly used, but some like "GSi", "SRi" etc are included.

Things like TFT are used that much, so aren't inlcude, so you need to get creative - I found this in about 15 secs - http://www.m1gst.com/vb/showpost.php...2&postcount=57

    Hey Ffoeg

    thanks for the reply

What do you mean get creative ? obviously TFT was the only example i could think of but what did you search for ? "black console" then sifted to find one that said both words? or can you use +,-,& etc etc ?

if it was something like 'black alloy wheel' it would obviously be harder to sift through all alloy wheel posts

I searched for "black console", and then scanned the result for the thread most likley to contain the example you posted.

By creative I meant that if a word your looking for is three letters, and thus non searchable, try to think of another word that is usually used with that word -eg say you were looking for 'GSI' (and it wasn't on the included list), tying a search for 'Arden' would get you some results, on the same way that 'zlet' would. PLus the advanced search refines it even more.

I don't think boolean stuff works tho not 100% sure
