Declaring Mods on insurance & Adrain Flux

Ive never come accross an insurance company that would allow modifications without completely stinging you on the price. Who are these angels at Adrain Flux that people are mentioning? How comes their quotes are so reasonable? Previously (on my mk3) ive just not declared mods.

I've found Admiral to be good on mods hence why everything on my car is declared. Its not worth the risk.

Flux's specialise in modded & rare cars etc, so they appreciate that if you mod a car then you generally care more about it than Mr 2.4 kids and his rep mobile, so are more likely to look after it, and less likely to crash it. that's the theory anyway

to be honest now, it seems like a lot more companies are now accepting modded cars, because i think its come down to, everyones having a modded car, either start accepting it, or lose money

Yeah i know what you mean about the risk. Whilst driving my MK3 down the A5 at 60mph my near-side front alloy came off. Fecking idiot mechanics hadn't done them up properly. That was an experience i'll never forget!

Im with flux, and find them very good at mods, thats why Ive declared everything. As a rule they charge no extra for visual mods but do charge for performance mods. I hoiked my performance from 200bhp to 245bhp and they only charged me an extra £68. Bargain if you ask me.

What you need to remember is the difference between a company that accepts mods and a company that covers mods.

99% of companies will take cars with mods, but they won't insure the mods.

I.E your car is completely covered in irmscher goodies. You get squashed between two cars, front and back bumpers / spoilers are buggered. The insurance company will pay for standard vauxhall bumpers only.

However, if you're insurance with a company that insure your mods, they will replace all of your modifications on an exact like for like basis

purpose of the insurance is to put you back in the same position as you were before, so if this was a modified car, you should get it...they most likely will take off a deduction for wear and tear, but you pay extra for them to accept the mods, why not get it back if a claim is made?
