My coupe was ticking really loud this morning

As title says, whats going on? oil and filter were changed less than 1000 miles ago with gen vauxhall stuff 5 - 35 synthetic oil i think it was, the car itself has only done 32,000 and is a 2003 car! please dont tell me that the tappets have gone?

I drove a 400 round trip over last few days and car was fine then, could fitting vectra c pipe and de-restricting the airbox and fitting a k & n pannel filter have anything to do with this?

Really annoyed me this has because i was soooo happy how the car had run on the long trip

Can anyone give me any advise?

Is it coming from behind the air box. The astra ticks alot due to the purge value or the cabon cannister solenoid as it is also known as.

Replacing it might help. Its a value behind the air box to do something with petrol flumes.

    Hope that helps.

it may be the obvious and wrong answer but have you checked your oil level? Mine starts to tick when the oil level gets low and after its been driven for a wee while, top up the oil and it stops.

    worth a look

My gf's 1.2 Astra has started to tick with 44k miles on the clock, when you listen out for it, it is coming from right behind the airbox.

Not sure how much it is and not sure if it affects the car in any way. Not sure how much, www.vauxallparts.co.uk is a good place to start looking.

Only Opel sell the 1.2. Pretty crap to be honest, the 1.2 is useless in the Corsa...

The fuel purge valve is a common fault - don't think they're too much to be honest, I'd be surprised if it's more than a tenner for a new one.
