    handbrake light coming on while driving

    Hi all

    my hand brake light keeps coming on when driving along and more so when i turn left slightly and it has now started to do it when driving along normally, the hand brake isnt on and it seems as though its the switch playing up! any ideas?????

    Take a look at the switch - it's directlyy under the front of the handbrake. Pop off the handbrake gaitor and you should be able to get you finger to it, so give it a squirt of WD40 and work it in.

    Failing that, it might need a new one

    RTFM - "Lights up when ignition is switched on if handbrake is applied and/or fluid level for brake/clutch hydraulics is too low. If it lights up when the handbrake is not applied: interrupt your journey. Consult a Vauxhall Dealership" Check your brake fluid level.

    i have only recently changed all my brakes and i topped up with brake fluid at the same time! but i will double check it! cheers for the response!

    Check your brake fluid, had this fault with my car, was the same thing, light coming on whilst driving. Turned out my clutch cylinder was knackered.

    Oh yes, its a subframe/gearbox off job courtenay told me, came to about £260 labour plus £100 for the part if i remember correctly. But that was on a Z20LET/F23.

    ah i think im safe i have just checked my brake fluid, and it was just below the minimum so i will top that up when i get home, that my fault for buying engine bling
