    Tinting Rear Lights - MOT

Decided i'd had enough of the Orange indicator on the back of the coupe so decided to get the old Tinting Spray out.

Gotta say i think it looks superb, unless you're on your hands and knees inspecting them you would never know - Just like the Jewel ( i think? )ones but cost nowt.

Question is how will i fair when it comes to its first MOT what with them flashin more Red than Orange? Not till March next year so got a while to sort anything.

Do the rear lights from the hatch fit in? If so could borrow some off a mate or buy a standard set for peanuts but want to avoid unless it wont pass an MOT....

iirc the standard bulbs are just plane white light and they use the yellow plastic to create the yellow flash...

get hold of some amber flashing bulbs and you should be fine...

hatch lights and coupe lights are not interchangeable

(btw still yet to put those angel eyes on my motor)

Good Shout! That one hadnt even crossed my mind. If thats right it might make it a blatantly red flash anyway!

(You'll have to make sure you get those lights in whilst its off the road - You've not had much luck recently! )

I assume you've tinted the centres red then?

I did a set of cavalier ones (just did the indicator and reversing light) ages ago and so long as you're subtle with it you'll be okay!

Yeah just did the orange indicator bit. Very impressed with how good it looks. Was just admiring it in the sunshine at lunch

shabz - Did 3-4 layers leaving to dry and polishing/cutting inbetween (well my mate did). Reasonably seamless from anything more that eyeballing it close up. Will have to check later to see if the indicators are Clear flashers (which'd make sense) or Amber.

If they're not Amber bulbs that'll be the first thing to try...

    Pics for those who've asked.......

Ones on car not too good as taken in shade on crappy quality but picture the second one on the car..........

Only the Orange part of the lense was painted and as above post, unless close up it looks seemless. Very happy with the results.

Bulbs are also Clear so should be much better wwhen i get Amber bulbs in.

Pre Tint (pic robbed from ebay)

Mine after tinting - Love em! (can just see the mask line but not if any further away)

Pic on Car but in shade - Just picture the shiny one above on it

no idea mate soz, was just some a mate had lying around. Not lacquered them, perhaps should have but took me weeks to get this done and had to shoot off quick.

Should probably give another rub down and lacquer em but more than happy with the result as they are so likely wont bother!
