    1.9cdti tuning options

It looks like i will be buying a sport hatch 1.9cdti 150bhp. I have seen so many ecu/chip tuning versions that all seem about the same. The question I have is which one is best? any ideas/views or opinions would be appreciated, especially if you have the ecu map your self. Is the Regal (EDS) map the same as the VXR performance centre (88 one? what about the plug and play options? do these create any more black smoke etc?

    Thanks

Im sure there are still some T8s available?

Buy one of them, will work out cheaper, and you get way more for your money.

The 888 are now Ł18995, beleive me it wont work out cheaper. The normal 150 BHP with the exterior pack can be had for only Ł14500. The 888 costs alot more to insure as well as they are modified. I understand that the 150BHP and a remap will hit the insurance but the 888 is over priced. I can buy the bits and put them on a normal XP 150cdti and save about a grand and still have the normal bits!

You will save yourself maybe Ł400 if you are lucky, by buying all the parts, and you cant get the 888 wheels unless its a replacement for a 888cdti.

Remap works well on this car , tuning boxes are effective but not as refined as Remap.

You say youll save money, but I doubt it would be much.

If your going to buy a box / remap it, then get a 120 16v SRI, still gives the same igures but is cheaper.

Dont have a remap unless you want to void your warrent.

IIRC, the 888 still has a valid warrenty?

remap shouldn't viod your warrenty as garage won't be able to tell it has been mapped, as even on tech2 they can't tell.

I assumed he was buying second hand though? As he said they are avialable from Ł14k

IDK why someone would buy the 120 1.9. TBH id rather get the new punto, same engine, 10 extra bhp, lighter, insurance group 6, same number of toys etc.
