    BIG brakes....

Last week, during one of my many visits to Courtenay Jon insisted that I look at his Astra VXR and tell him what was different. At first I thought it was the fact it was dirty, those who know Jon would understand, but no, it was the front brakes, take a look…..

Jon's is the 3rd car to get the kit, the others being the Sprint car and the Blue development / Dougie’s car. Jon has got a set to give 888 some additional development feed back in an alternative road environment.

The kit is a 4 pot calliper which is available in red or blue, choosing blue means you don’t need to repaint your rear VXR callipers – something Jon worked out afterwards, plus the 343mm discs/bells.

The kit is very high quality and the one thing the photo does not show is the bracket that mounts the calliper to the suspension leg. Often it’s this bracket that lets such kits down, but this one is superb and an exact fit as is the rest of the kit.

How much, well if you have to ask………but it’s comparable to similar kits, but this time you know it will fit!
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

It does work out a couple hundred pounds to get normal ap calipers, but then you have the problem with getting them to fit.

This kit you are pretty much guarenteed it will fit.

The VX performance centre have put a £1600 price on the kit iirc

Its a very nice bit of kit, I beleive they are planning a similar 6-pot P kit for the Vectra;s as well.

The Astra kit is priced at £1600 which includes fitting.

Forget about looking the part, they are there to do a job, what price do you put on safety on a modified car, all too often overlooked, Its scary to think some people see these brakes as blingy bits. thats what special R******ed paint is for.

I really like them and like the fact they are made to fit the car. I've been looking on getting some AP Racing calipers for some time now but after all the probs poeple had fitting brembos, it put me off diving in and getting them. Would rather they just said "AP Racing" on them though.

I will get a set fitted soon enough... can't wait to feel the performance from them
