    Air box or indution?

    Hiya what do u guys mean by derestricted air box and also i see you guys prefer to keep the air box over and induction kit?Why is that?
    What gains do you have over an induation kit?

    on a turbo car the heat will be no good for an induction kit so most coupe turbo poeple just use a uprated panel filter with larger air pipe.

    De-restricting is simply taking the internal pipework out of the air box to increase airflow - been literally done to death, and all your Q's will be answered by a quick search.

    The engine bays of Mk4's have poor air flow through them (especially on the bigger engined cars so using an induction kit tends to lower performance due to heat soak.

    You might gain a few bhp, but that's not the point of doing it - you will gain better response throughout the rev range.

    persoanlly if its for a Z20LET (after doing it the other day) id get a 2.2 airbox, derestrict that and fit that, much better imo and doesnt cost much,

    info again in the how2 thread "How to fit a Z22SE airbox to a Z20LET" (or something like that) so it the way it has at the bottom using the existing pipes and then you only need to buy the airbox (£32 + VAT)
