    Z20LET Emission Light Issues

I have a 2004 Astra GSi Turbo in which the Emmision light keeps coming on. Its happened 3 times now as when i clear the code it turns the light off then around a week or so later it comes back with the same fault code. The code is the following:

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshod (Bank 1)

The car has a full 2.5 exhaust system, with vortex sports cat and pre cat removed, so guessing this may be the problem? Any help would be great, Thanks!

It comes on when both driving round town and also when giving it some. Left it a few days but stays on.

I had the same problem with my car. I have the same sort of setup as you, no precat 3" dump pipe high flow cat into a 2.5" cat back system.

I got the cat checked and it was fine. Took the car up state for around 1000km drive and it seemed to clear the problem. I think the problem was due to the car having build up matter in the car and precat, some solid driving at a steady pace seems to have burned away the excess crap in the cat.

Not sure mate, just seems a little odd that it comes and goes.

I'd check the second o2 sensor too..... You can use a volt meter....
