    Stuck

    rite, i just bought myself an f18 gearbox for my x20xev astra g and it dont work. seems to be jamed in reverse. does anyone know if it is an easy task to remove the gears themselves to have a look at the problem in hand?

    My X20XEV'd Sri had an F23 in it... not sure if that helps at all.....

    the 2.0 runs on the F23 gear box but you could fit a F17 if you want but it would be faster to get upto a top speed but a slower top speed

    is the new box actually in neutral?
    is the reverse in the same position as your old gear box?
    is there a chance that you have not lined the gearing linkage into the same position it was originally in?

    also if the car started off with the F23 thats run on a cable the F18 uses a Rod linkage

    Early 2.0 g's started life with f18 and ran fine till i blew a hole in the box. You can move the gear stick around as if it's in neutral but when you turn the key you need your foot on the clutch. When you lift clutch car just wants to go backwards. All the linkage is in the right place. I've taken the selector of and it appears to be in neutral but you can't manually select any gears.
