I've had my 1.8 sri mk4 astra for 1 week and im beginning to find it a bit slow which is abit stupid and i want to improve he performance. WHats the best performance mods that i can no which will not affect the amount of petrol consumed?
    Thanks

remap? apparently they increase fuel economy.

search for wilko's threads about them. he does some good ones at amazing prices.

Personally I'd sort out the breathing and farting (induction & exhaust) of the engine first before u even consider a remap. Any changes to the ECU will be of more use once these mods have been taken into consideration.
TBH it shouldnt really be that slow! Is there any underlying problems with the car or are u comparing it to a previous more powerful motor?

tbh its not really slow as the cars that have been going faster than me have all been modded.
I've been thinking of a rempa but do i really need to have a better exhaust and air filter before i even consider a remap? and does desrestricting the airbox do much good?
    Thanks

yeah airbox mod is a proven one and it does work. afterall the mod is free ! just need to get new intake pipes (£13) and a decent panel filter. Yeah u dont HAVE to sort out the exhaust etc but it just means the remap would be more efficient and maybe release a few more ponies once u have decent parts fitted.
I aint got a remap so cant comment - maybe those in the know can advise u further. Wilko is the man to ask...either PM him on here or visit his company @ http://www.cobus-chiptuning.co.uk/ for more info.

if i got a performance air filter and a better exhaust after the remap would this have the same affect as having the mods done before the mod?

You'd be best to get all your physical changes sorted before the remap, as this will take them into account, and optimise the car for the spec it's at

i found mine a bit slow at times, usually mid range torque seemed lacking. Speak to Wilkco about a remap but don't expect a HUGE increase in performance. apparantly the 1.8 doesn't respond well to modding.
