Angry Got caught doing 39 in a 30 MPH zone

Got clocked driving at 39MPH in a 30MPH zone by a mobile laser van. Got letter in post 10 days after date of offence. Photo evidence online also - no photo of driver though. At the time of offence I wasnt the driver, it was my father on his way back from a garage after some repairs to my car. I don't think he is insured to drive my car. Punishement is £60 fine and 3 points on licence if I own up, or give details of the driver at the time of offence. Of course I would prefer the fine, and points going onto my father's licence rather than mine. BUT, if I named my dad as the driver, will they check of he has insurance to drive my car? If so then I would rather I just own up and get points, not wanting any more trouble than necessary.

Is there some loophole I havent heard about that could let me off?

What you guys think I should do?

does your dad have his own fully comp policy that allows him to drive other peoples car's 3rd party...if so...it should be ok to give his details and say you gave him permission to drive your car...

if he doesnt...well...you shouldnt break the law tut tut

best to check your dads policy details

Whats it got to do with you? Can't believe that your dad would put you in this position, after all he was speeding with no insurance. Sorry but he should take it like a man - not make his kid take the blame for what he did.

They will check the insurance as you have to produce your documents when paying the fine iirc.

police will not check insurance all they want is a licence to put the points on and a £60.00 cheque !

honest mate i know people who have had points and had to sell them on to someone sothey can keep there licence ! it happens a lot because they dont make you produce which to me just shows what a money making scheem speed cameras are !!
