    which cams do i get??

has anyone here got any preference to which cams they prefer?? or are suposidly better, i have heard varied comments and im swaying towards kent cams, i have a 1.8 16v astra g and the cambelt is due for a change now, so i figured as they are going that far, they might aswell do the cams too.
please help i dont know, piper or kent??

I've gone with Piper 270deg's 3 times in the past (and will do again soon) - never had a problem with them.

To get the best from them budget for vernier pullies and a couple of hours on a RR to get them dialed in properly

What gains would verniers do on standard cams? I have read tht the timing on the 1.8's are pretty poor from the factory to meet emmisions etc. is this true?

    3 different cars

Benefits are [usually] more power, but at the expense of a compressed power band - normally coming in a bit later up the rev range than standard cams.

I's advise that you only go for fast raod cams, if you want to mantain drivability. I've used rally cams before, and it was a total pig to drive in traffic, but when it hit the power band at about 4000rpm (and upwards), it more than made up for it

who are they?? i never heard of them.
geoff the set that the garage are reccomending have a powerband starting at 1500 through to 6500 and claim 20% power increase, is this typical?? its a kent cam sport performance one i think, seems about the best for normal road use, so im told... he said they wont need to be on adjustable something i cant remember lol, but he said that will be the most drivable as the next one up dosnt hit power till 3000rpm

They supplied cams for a lot of vaux race cars, they will design a cam to do exactly what you want aswell as there off the shelf stuff.
