    changing gears quick

i was reading a thread about this earlier but no gave a solution to the problem i just wont to no if there is one because i got the same problem with my 1.8 sri and it is really pissing me off. the problem is when trying to change gear fast it just will not go unless u drop the power a bit. the way u can get it in to gear at high revs is really force it an it makes a bad chrunching noise

I get it with mine if I try to change when almost red lining, feels almost like when you try to change into first when going too fast; The gear stick just resists the change.

Only way I can avoid it is to change up before it gets to the redline, just try it, at a few different high revs and you will find where yours kicks in.

I assume it is to protect the gearbox/engine, although it can be annoying.

i dont have any problems with my 1.8 sri with gear changing. I change at about 200rpm before the redline and its fine, but if you aretaking to the redline then chaging it aint going to be doing your engine or gear box any good

thats life.. any fool knows you should match the revs before dropping into the new gear anywho.. try changing down from second to first while cars doing 15-20.. wont happen... blip the throttle and woo the gear drops in nice.

can i just ask why people are changing so close to the redline the car stops making power before then so you just doing damage to you engine if you changed earlier then you might find it going into gear easily...?!!

Must be lucky, mine changed fine even if its bouncing off the readline - not as if I do it regulary, this applys to first second and third. I'm not joining the "but the power drops off before the red line" arguement. Basically because I don't care!
