    Witnessed an accident today

Some idiot was making to turn right across two lanes of traffic - he was halfway across one of the lanes and decided to push it across the other lane, completely ignoring the Merc A class heading straight towards him.

    Pillock.

A copper was going past and stopped - flashy lights turned on, "Brains" drove off.

Not before someone else spotted his number plate, however. I'd seen the accident, so I stopped and gave a witness report - wonder if anything will come of it?

Sounds like the guy was driving like a complete dick. If the police witnessed it I doubt there'll be a need for you to get involved mate. Something similar happened to me not so long ago, I was following this old guy in a Cavvy with some knob in an Escort behind him and he kept accelerating up his ass to get him to move over, poor old guy dint know what to do, he was in the right after all. Eventually for no reason this guy in the Escort, completely deliberately, accelerated into the old guy and shoved him into the barrier and then used the excuse "I dint see what I was doing mate the mrs was having a go at me!". I stopped as a witness and waited with the old guy till the police turned up, he was major shook up. never heard anything about it though...
The other day I was going right round a roundabout, indicated left to turn off and this crazy lady pulled out on me from the previous turn off, god i shat myself! slammed the anchors on, swerved away from her and just shot up the kerb onto the grass, and she had the nerve to toot at me and flip me the finger, drove off too the bitch! There are some nutters about!!

Yesterday must have been nutter's day out.

Some tiny speccy bitch in a Mazda 6 was right up my chuff the whole way home, every time I changed lanes she followed me. I mean, she must have been less than 6" off the back of me. Eventually I left her in a cloud of smoke up a slip road, couldn't believe it. She must have had about 20 cushions jacking her up to see over the dash!

Then just as I was getting home I had not one but two cars drive out into the road right infront of me. Old granny in a Hyundai Getz, speeds out into the road about 10m infront of me, and sits at 20mph (I'm doing double that). She pooters along at 20 in the outside lane, then swerves over near hitting the inside lane traffic every time something comes the other way.
I turn off into the back road to the house, and an old grandpa in a new Clio kangaroos out and drives at 5mph in the middle of the road! WTF?!?

Old people really are very dangerous a lot of the time.

Most of them fall into the worst catagory of driver IMO, the people who think a slow driver is a good one.

The amount of times you see them sitting at 30/35 in a clear 60 limit.

Yeah, at least my grandpa had the sense to get off the road when he had his accident - it wasn't even his fault either. A bus driver in a Metro came out of the bus station and T-boned grandpa. Write off both the Metro and the Montego Estate grandpa was driving.

Grandpa was an excellent driver too - army taught and Police trained, he could outdrive a lot of people when he stopped driving at 75. He had a Mazda 323 just before he stopped driving, and I followed him one day and couldn't keep up with him.

I still think, as much as it pains me to say, that people should be tested every 10 years!!. Soooo many bad drivers on the road, not just old people, but also the people that drive like dicks, cause other people to avoid them, and then flip the bird as if its the other persons fault, even though they're the ones that son't know the highway code.

I drive pretty much the same route every day, and at the same point, on a single country A road, thats a national speed limit, has a speed camera, everyone jams on the anchors and goes through it at 40!!, Its a national speed limit, that means 60, or if its a dual carrageway 70! FFS

I soo with i was an under cover copper sometimes, just to throw a copy of the highway code at them!!.

lol you get some strange driving out there - the simple lane discipline on a roundabout one gets to me the most though, no matter how perfectly you do it, the amount of times you watch someone cut you up exiting in the wrong lane ( e.g. 2 lanes into roundabout, 2 lanes out... you exit in the lane you entered it... e.g. if you entered on the outside lane you exit on the outside lane, so that you don't smack into someone on the inside lane going the same way as you - common sense, plus highway code too..... ) everyday on the way to work I have to do 5 roundabouts with this setup - and every morning and evening I see people nearly crash then go mental at each other.

and greenways.... just because the lane ahead has turned into a greenway, doesn't give you instant right of way to just switch lane without indicating and nearly smashing into everyone just to avoid slowing down or entering the greenway while carefully changing lanes out of it..... muppets

    Well:
If theres 2 lanes on a roundabout, and no road markings, the highway code states that the left hand lane is for turning left only, and the right is for going straight on, or right!

I meant 2 lanes entering the roundabout - and 2 lanes also exiting ( say straight on ) then if you are going straight on you can use either lane - but you stick to that lane through the roundabout and exit in the same lane you entered ( i.e. you don't enter in the right hand lane, go straight over and randomly decide to exit in the left hand lane )

easier to show what I mean than type it I'll take a vid one afternoon on my way home, never ceases to amaze me the amount of near misses I see every day.

I don't know what you all mean, I've never had an accident in all the years I have been driving. I've witnessed a lot in my rear view mirror though, dunno why?!
