    vxr owners and turbo owners

Just wondering how often the radiator fans come on in your car? Mine seem to be on alot in the vxr. I always take it easy for the last part of my journey and sit for a while to let it all cool down but the fans more or less always seem to come on where as in my brothers gsi turbo I cant remember them coming on alot and he said there not on that often. Bit annoying the vxr not having a temp gauge but does the vxr have a lower set fan temperature switch?

I haven't got a turbo car but I can tell you right now my fan is on a hell of alot recently due to the high ambient air temps. The air temp is not cooling the water in the rads fast enough hence the fan coming on. Try taking a drive late at night or very early morning when the ambient air temp is lower. See if its the same.

VXR engine bay is crampt and gets hot very quickly thats why the fan activates sooner than a mk4 turbo

There is actually more room under the hood of a VXR than a coupe turbo or GSI.

It's not unusual for the fan to be coming on during high ambient temps. The rear rad cooling fan has a two stage system, a high and a low speed if you like.

The LEH engine (same as the ZLET) also has an electronic water pump to continue to circulate the coolant arond the system when the engine is turned off.

Are you sure that it is the cooling fan (rear of the rad) and not the air-con cooling fan on the front of the intercooler btw?

Sounds like the thermostat switch might be faulty - I'd take it in to Vaux and get them to take a look at it for you.
