yes... a sprinter van is less than 3.5t so is classed as the car category - ie. category B

When did u pass ur full car test? if it was before 1 Jan 1997 then u are entitled to drive a few more vehicles than those after that date . I guess u dont fall into this category but if u do - gimme a shout and I'll point u in the right direction .
I've got every single category except a PCV so I guess u could say I know my stuff lol

When did you get your licence?

You should be able to drive up to 3.5tonne - combined weight, although if you passed in the last few years, you cant tow a trailer
Sold my Astra to buy a house.

    Now drive a 205 GTI 2.0 16v

    Cheap and Chearfull!

When did you get your licence? I think if it's sooner than some time in 97 you will not be able to drive the bigger stuff.

Yupski. You can drive a Sprinter on a normal license. Its only if you plan on carrying more than 8 passengers or cruising around in an HGV that you will require extra categories.

well in that case normal Cat B rules apply - upto 3.5t (maximum gross weight) includes light vans sprinters/transits etc and small minibuses upto 8 people. no trailers in excess of 750kg allowed. Hope this helps

Strctly speaking that's a negative Ghostrider. It's cat B1, which you qualify for automatically when you pass your cat B test. but who am i to nitpick over a few loose ends

PS I have HGV and PCV. The only one's I dont have are cat A (motorbikes-coming soon hopefully) and cat H (tracked vehicles ie tanks. but im sure if i go to an armoured unit then I'll get that too)
    Gaz

    No longer owns an Astra

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring

    Sorry but ur wrong.

    Category B is upto 3.5t

Category B1 = Three or four-wheeled light vehicles
Motor tricycles or quadricycles in category B1 have:
    • three or four wheels
    • a design speed greater than 50 km per hour
    • an unladen weight of no more than 550 kg
the vans fall into cat B and defo not B1. You may be getting mixed up with Cat C1 which is light goods vehicles between 3.5t & 7.5t and which prior to 01.01.1997 were given automatically with the Cat B (car) entitlement at the pass stage.

its good to nitpick.....but it helps if u have the right info

OK replies drifting off topic... and thread starter got the answer he wanted so time to shutup me thinks
