    OBD II Reader

Has anyone on here created there own OBD II reader software??

i am considering writing my own interface in LabVIEW and have been reading up on it today and it doesn't sem to be that difficult once you know the read write commands etc.

I am fully aware that you can buy OBD II reader software buts thats no fun.

if anyone has had a go at this did you buy and intelligent OBD II to RS232 interface cable/box that does all the hard work for you or a dumb interface cable and then set about doing the whole thing in software?? if the later how hard was it to set up the serial port and get the PC/Laptop talking to the ODB II port??

seems quite straight forward with and intelligent interface cable/box but i cant seem to find any info about doing it solely in software

I also did a quick mock up of how it might look today

    what do you think???

One final request can you think of any more sensors to add to the list that can be read via the OBD II port
