    Help with vxr turbo

Ordered new vxr unit arriving wed. any help appreciated i.e. guide to fitting vxr turbo to let engine. Not paying garage price for job mechanically minded and like to give things a go myself. I have been told some units got sent out with no gaskets causing oil leakages, is this true?

The VXR unit is virtually indentical to look at, as the standard LET one. So it's a straightforward swap adding new gaskets and washers everywhere that you find one. Just go down to your local vaux dealer parts department for these.

If you've moved the radiators back to fit a bigger intercooler, you'll need to un-do this to move the radiator away from the engine to allow space to work.

Once you've undone all the nuts/studs holding the turbo to the head it's a bit of a fiddle to manouver the turbos past the air con pipes at the left hand side - be patient and be careful not to damage anything.

You need to move the water pipe from one place to another on the new turbo too. Once you've got the standard one off sit the two turbos side by side and you'll see what needs doing. Dead simple.

In true Haynes manual style: re-fitting is reversal of removal.
