    Aircon & new engine

I have just had a pritty much newlwy rebuilt engine, in my 2.2 hatch, i am just about to hit 500mile stage with breaking her in and have not gone above 3k on the revs.

The only teathing problem i have found is i used the aircon for the first time yesterday, the revs fluctuate a fair bit and it stalled in traffic. this settled after a bit but is seemed to make alot of noise on idle with it on.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

Should i take it back to the dealer?

well the aircon would usually cause the engine to increase in revs when you switch it on

Mine makes a noise when the aircon is switched on, a bit like a grinding noise or extra fan running. Unfortunately i have taken mine to the dealers loads of times with this and they cant locaste the problem so i have given up. Others also have reported similar. Engine revs always drop when i turn my aircon on and notice engine doesn't pull anywhere near aswell.

If the revs fluctuate at all or it stalls in traffic, the idle stepper motor isn't working quickly enough. This is probably due to build up of deposits in the throttle body (before your rebuild) but it might be the motor itself.

Get the throttle body cleaned and then ensure you use good quality oil (API SL/SM - ACEA B3) of the correct grade for your engine.
