    vw golf help

    need some more help guys this time with my mates vw golf, he was putting his window up and the window has slipped of the runner and dropped to the bottom of the door, i took the door card off and behind that was a metal plate i tried to remove this but for some reason it was stuck near the top, does anyone know how i get to the window and when i do how i put it back on.?????

    The window mech's are a common problem to go on those

    I can't remember the exact way to take them out but from memory it has to be pulled out at the bottom and dropped down

    First though you need to remove the glass from the mech and you will see 2 large grommets in the door about 2" in diameter. Take these out and try to lift the window to undo the bolts

    yeah i cant move the window because i cant get to it, i undone the metal plate but it wont remove its getting stuck near the top for some reason

    The runners the window slides on go in at the top so it needs to drop down before it comes out

    so if i give it a tug it should just drop ?? and how do i get the window back on?

    The window will still be attached which is why you can't pull it out now. The mech will be buggered TBH as the cables break on it

    It's not to hard, the window should lift if you operate the switch up and try and push it at the same time

    Once it's up enough unbolt it and you should be able to take it all off

    when you go to vw you nly need the mechanism not the whole plate as its alot more expensive

    not a hard job but take your time

    go to www.uk-mkivs.net and do a search on there as there is a 'how to' kicking about on there
