    cold start

    Hi

With a number of cars that I've had, these are all Vauxhalls, the engine revs to 1.2K/1.4K then settles down.

Prefectly normal under certain conditions - cold engines don't idle too well.

Well, technically there's no choke on a modern car. It's just a different, richer fuelling map to get the engine up to temp quicker.
