    Angry Astra mk4 1.6 8v problems with cooling system and air con

    hi, i've got a 1998 astra mk4 1.6 8v and there are few problems. the eletric fan of the cooling system isnot working as well the air con system. when i pulled my car to a local garage for a check, replced a fan control unit, and nothing got better. and also air con system canot do a regas. the car still drives. but the tempreture rise quickly if got triffic jamed in the city centre. have anyone seen this kind of cases before? also could you give some advices please. thankx Ray.

    Is the fan not coming on at all then ray? Even in traffic?

    the fans are not working at all. as well the air con fan.

    Why can't the air-con be re-gassed? If it needs re-gassing then internal pressure sensors will detect the lack of gas and disable the compressor as well as not demanding any cooling from the fan.

    The engine should still demand fan cooling when needed though.

    i dont's really expect the air con works, but the cooling fan just annoying. it has no problem with fan control unit. what else can be?

    not quite sure what the matter is with yours but mine had temperature problem as there was noise coming from the fan got it checked and no one knew what it was

    then i noticed that this noise was only happening when the AC button was pressed so i just got it re-gassed and touch wood its ok so it might be the same for you

    You can test the function of the Cooling Control ECU with Tech2.

    Well, that kit will allow you to read a fault code, if you're lucky. The software is bugged at best.
