Don't know if anyone can help me on here, but here goes...
Just bought a load of stuff mail order to build a PC for home but I have hit upon a alight problem.
Built it up and all was going well till I tried to plug the PSU in.
The motherboard has a 24 pin ATX power socket on it as well as a 4 pin Auxiliary power socket.
The power supply I have bought has a 20 pin plug on it as well as a 4 pin Auxiliary power plug.
The 20 pin power plug will physiclly fit (without any forcing, the keyways are in the correct place) into the 24 pin socket, however this leaves the last 4 pins with no connection.
Now I know that the connecter has many pins to do the same job (3v, 12v, Gnd, etc) but is it ok to run it in this configuration? I haven't switched it on yet just in case!!
Thanks in advance,
BTW, I was joking about the geeks bit!!!
