    Front Strut Top Bearings ?

    Hiya

I was having my Spax RSX kit fitted yesterday and received a call from the guy at the garage!

He said he had fitted the rear shox and spring, no probs BUT he didnt want to fit the front shox and use the standard bearings at the top of the shocker. He said he tried fitting them but when he tightened them up, there was two 'rubbers' touching each other! It seemed as thou the bearings werent 'chunky' enough and if he fitted them with standard bearings the shocker would jus spin in the hole !!! I had them fitted before and another garage used the original bearing but on the underneath side of the top plate, it seems to have been scratched away were the bearings were!

Now this was all too technical for me so ...

Can i actually use standard bearings with my RSX kit?
    or
Can i get 'chunkier' bearings for the front shox?

    cheers

    Lee

ps plz help i need this done b4 PV

    What car even?

The bearing sits over the top of the damper piston on MK3s.

If it's fitted up the wrong way (so it sits on top of the piston) it will scrape the top mount and crack the bearing.
