    Sump Plug Stuck/Alternative

    Helpp!

    Ok the car is a 51plate 1.6. 16v Sxi

The sump plug is a 13mm one i think and used a T45 torx bit 2 remove, currently the one in there is completely rounded off and has no 'torx bit ness' left to it so gona be difficult getting it out. but ill probably manage to do it with a screw extractor or sumthing, not too big a deal.

but this always happenes 2 me so this time i dnt want a sump plug that takes a torx bit 2 remove.

What im asking issss.... does anyone have or can get me a vauxhall part number for an alternative sump plug one dats just like a nut would b best but obviously needs 2 fit my engine!

You need to use the normal plug. The steel ones won't work.

You'll need to chisel the old plug out, and just use a new one.

Always use a new plug each time you change the oil, otherwise they will jam.

just get a decent tool bit and the right plug. with the right tool you will never round off the plug if it has been put in properly.

my 1.6 16V has got a standard nut type sump plug.

i just rang up autovaux and asked for sump for my car.

my engie is the x16xel tho and a persum that yours is the z16xe.

    should still fit tho.

failing that you should be able to get a standard nut type one from halfords or the like

ok cool so ill probably jus get hold of a normal plug. it probably only rounded off cause i tried 2 over tighten it...

when u say chisel it out... u mean use a chisel between the head of the sump plug and the sump and hammer the chisel in 2 get it out... wnt this damage the thread in the sump?

If you've got an alloy sump, don't even think about taking a chisel anywhere near it - you'll stand a good change of cracking it.

Also, the problem with difficult to undo sump plugs is purely down to the last person to tighten it. There is a very popular misconception that you need a 20stone mate to swing on a breaker bar to do nuts up - you don't!!!

On your engine the torx sump plug only needs be torqued up to 14Nm.

Hello mate I had the same problem all you need to do is hammer a bigger fitting torque/alan key socket in so it is really tight and will turn out.
This will get the nut out for sure without damaging anything then just get a new one.
