Do a search - it's been discussed to death on this and most other forums.

It's marmite, so some will swear by them and some will swear at them.

The vauxhall engine range is called ecotech (persuably meaning ecomnical technology)

how ever the ecotek valve mentioned here is a little valve type device that is fitted in the inlet of the engine.

it is supposed to improve throttle repnse and fuel econimy by causing cyclonic air movment into the engine.

a quick search on google should find you plenty of info on them

Yeah my m8 had one on his Mazda MX-3. Makes a sucking noise when working. We were under the impression that the Vaux engines had them on already hence the 'ecotech' on the engine . Thanks for the explination and mature attitude .

one thing that you could be mistaking it for is the twin port techonlogy that vauxhall have put onto there smaller eniges. namely the 1.4 and 1.6 16V engines

this is bassically a twin inlet port agrangement that somehow allows the engine to produce sightly more torque at lower revs without effecting BHP.
not 100% how it works but it has been covered on here before.
