    Fault code reader

Hi again. No joy with my airbag light.
Does anyone know if the halfords fault code readers can be use to get codes from the airbag ecu. if not is there any way to get the codes other than taking it to vauxhall. I have a list of all the flash codes mean, i just need to get the ecu to tell me which code is stored. What is Tech 2 and do only vauxhall have it.

    Thanks

the fault code readers commonly available are basically Tech1 if i remember correctly and really only for most models up to year 2000 or so. The early Mk4s are ok and the 8v ones i believe - all depends what model/year u have.

as for Tech2 this is usually only available at Vx and other big outfits that may have need for such a machine. All Vx dealers will have one and usually charge about £55 ish to hook it up and remove/clear/detect codes etc.

As I said before - if u have an early model then the fault code readers available should be up to the job

to be honest an airbag light is a common fault - i mean it is known to come on when no fault is present...so the only thing u can reallisticaly do is have it removed by Vx

step four. genuine airbag fault occurs - u are oblivious to fact theres a problem - car crashes - airbag dont work - R.I.P

Stupid answer in my opinion on the grounds of common sense and safety - for £50 its upto u whether u think a life saving mod such as an airbag is worth it or not!!!!
