    Astra Coupe SE1 - No Heatshield??

    Any ideas why my Astra SE1 - Z18XE has got no heatshield?? Is this standard on SE1's?

    Mk4 Astras have several.

    If its got air-con it should have the heat shield covering the manifold.

    If it's missing then air-con performance will be badly impaired and cause premature seal failure.

    Yea it does have air-con...so i guess it'll need a heatshield...you know anyone selling one?

    Some Astra owners don't bother re-fitting the heat shield if they fit a performance manifold - not good.

    If you want a fancy heatshield try Courtenay Sport, otherwise it'll be a trip to your local Vxl dealer, though has it affected your air-con at all??

    I have no idea where that idea has come from. I removed my heatshield 2 years ago on my Z18XE and my aircon has performed perfectly ever since. AFAIK it's only there to prevent serious burns in case you slip and your hand would hit the manifold otherwise. It hardly deflects heat etc so it's unlikely it can affect aircon intake.

    A little more info on where you got that info from would help.
    52 Astra G 1.8, 18" Mille Miglia alloys, 325mm Brembo 4 pot conversion, Coupe leather interior, Raid strut brace, Whiteline rear ARB, Irmscher bits (skirts, Carbon steering wheel, Bonnet extension, M3 mirrors, boot & roof spoiler), Reiger Rear Diffuser & Front Bumper, Koni Adj. dampers, 35/30 Vogtland springs, Duplex quad exit ASCAR stainless exhaust.
