    Coupe 1.8 vs 2.2

Ok.. Just got rid of my SRI Turbo looking at the coupe, lots of you out there have these, and iam sure you have your likes and dislikes about each model. really just wanted to know what is the better car. Iam of course dropping power out-put is there a big difference in spped between the two. Also i take it the 1.8 did not have TC and a trip computer? Did the 2.2 come with side air bags as standard?

The 2.2 is a far superior engine compared to the 1.8 IMO. Although 0-60 time are almost identical for both, the 2.2 is more suited to motorway driving/cruising at high speed due to the fact that it has most of its power higher up the rev range.

I have a Y/2001 2.2 Bertone Edition and aprart from the standard features I have a/c, sunroof, cruise, etc

Later models have side airbags and trip. If I were you try to go for the SE2 versions... they're lush! Have a look at the 'Post you coupe pics' thread.

    Other options models are
    Bertone Edition
    SE1 (and SE2 as mentioned)

They are not miles apart but I would take the 2.2, worth the extra pennies.

Of course... so are the turbos

Get a 2.2 se2 or a turbo with full leather imo, i have a 1.8 se2 and its not that fast really and the engine is abit whiney, get around 23-26mpg aswell.

Booting it and it drop smajorily, had 37-38 on a run though, the se2 are stunning thou imo

I drive a 1.8 but have driven a couple of 2.2s. I'd definitely recommend the 2.2 over the 1.8 any day of the week. It's a completely different breed of engine. As said the 0-60 times maybe similar, but it's a poor reflection of just how capable the 2.2 is. Only criticism I've heard of is that the 2.2 is thirsty - but believe me, so is the 1.8! 2.2 is pretty much bullet proof and won't let you down.
