I've had my car into Vauxhall over the past few days to have a problem looked at where the Emissions light and Traction Control lights were constantly lit.
I dropped the car off on Monday night and spent 5 mins going through the customary name, address and telephone no checks. As I was about to leave I made one last final request that the ECU not be touched - it didn't need to be in my opinion so I didn't really put an awful lot of emphasis on this I just made the point.
Im sure you can figure out where this going and yes your absolutly right. I picked the car up last night and was happy to find that dashboard light situation had been resolved and sorted by replacing the MAF - what they hadn't told me, and I quickly found out much dismay was that they had reset the ECU and overwritten my stage 1 map . I immediatly phoned Vauxhall and asked them what the hell they were playing at and was informed that they often perform an ECU reset simply to save time when clearing error codes. Having just had the work done under warrenty I decided not to push it too far especially as he had already commented on the non standard exhuast and Dump valve.
On the plus side I contacted Regal who remapped the car for me and they have very kindly agreed to put the Stage 1 map back on for nothing as long as I can produce the Vauxhall paperwork. Good service from Regal there very happy with that - also gives me a chance to finally get my precat fitted which Regal are going to do for me at the same time.
Roll on Friday the 19th May !!!
