    Is Red Ex Any Good?

    has anyone used red ex on a petrol engine? is it any good and what difference does it make?

    depends on age / condition of your engine!

    basically it cleans up the fuel system however if the engine is quite old or well worn then you could end up worse off

    i dont remember feeling a big diffference from it but its just good 2 know that its cleaning the system out a bit!

    used to put this stuff in my old mini... had to run it on unleaded with a dash of red ex... used to go like sh*t off a stick.. lol

    yeah its pretty good... i tend to put a load in every 6 months. Try it at MOT time to get your emissions down if you feel that they are high.

    Dont like red ex I usually use the comma stuff.... Detox I think its called. Best on the market

    im not a big fan of redex... on both my last cars (1991 1.4 + 1994 1.6) it made them cough and splutter... never again...

    Did they have carburetors (sp?) or an injection system? Red-ex isn't very good on cars with carbs from what ive been told.

    For over 20 years, I've added 50ml of Redex to a full petrol tank every 1000 miles - it helps to remove moisture (condensation) from the tank and keeps the carburettor jets / fuel injectors clear of gum. Never had it cause any problems.

    My local Vaux dealer asks if u want them to use "FORTE Fuel Treatment" at each service for an extra £10. So I'm guessing thats decent stuff to use?
