    burns on carpet

this has got me stumped. <me and my partner don't smoke right lets get this out first> i came home from my holidays away to my horor of a small cigrette burn like on my carpet a couple of centimeters long, straight away i accused my brother who was staying at my house at the time , he denied it said he only smoked outside which i believe. so anyway i got up on fiday morning to see another small burn running in the same direction as the last. thought i may have missed that 1 from the 1st burn, now i got home on that same day to my horror that it had grown to about 25-30 cm's long and burnt down to the cord of the carpet in exactly the same direction

the only thing i can think of is that the bright sunshine shining through the french doors and magnifying the sun onto the carpet... although this sounds very unlikely but is the only thing it can be... anyone ever heard something soo silly, bit worried as this burn was remarkably close to my furniture

Thats probably the cause.. If its cigarett burns then it will smell of cigarett ( give it a niff ).. Probably is the sun tho..

It has been known for sunlight to set houses on fire as it can shine so strongly onto fabric.

I think your best rippin gup the carpet and laying down some laminate, or getting blinds.

[or stop lying to us and stop doing it liek two hounds on the carpet ]

I was gonna say you prolly left your hair straighteners on but then saw you sig and seen the name Andy. Dunno mate I doubt very much it would be the sun being magnified through the glass like - or everybody who has double glazing would have at least had something like that before now.
    mate sorry.

deffinatley sun burns from the windows. You need to get a blind fitted or you can buy some film (like window tint) thats clear that will stop it from happening. A cutomer of mine had a similar problem with scorching on a wooden floor I installed some years back.

Dobut it would affect laminate floors ( Mat will know ) but as for blinds, yes they couls catch file but it depends on the material..
