Panasonic headunit problem in nissan micra

Hi, just wondering if any of you boys could give me a bit of help. Iv bought and fitted a panasonic headunit for my girlfriends 2001 micra, it powers up but there is no sound coming from the speakers this made me think that the speakers might have been wired up incorrectly or that the internal amp may have blown. However, when the ignitinion is swithed off, a set of beeps are played through the speaker to remind you to remove the front panel, if either of these thing were wrong, would these beeps be heard? Any ideas?
    Thanks

Are you sure the beeps are comming from the speakers and not the headunit?

Problems i've had with panasonic stere's before is that is any of the speakers have a problem or are shorting to earth it will stop all the speakers working

Did you use the right ISO adaptor harness and earth the stereo aswell?

there has been a development and its very strange, sound is now coming from the speakers but only when the side lights are on. The wiring harness is correct as far as i know but the radio is earthed through the arieal which as there is no ground wire from the loom which goes to the radio seem as if that the way it is on the micra, this is also the same as my sisters micra, where all of the wires are the same but there are no problems with her JVC radio.

The original radio screws in and is bolted to the metal which is in turn earthing it. Most the ISO adaptor looms have a black wire that you have to screw down to metal, I'd definitely suggest sorting this out at least

My thinking is that there could be a fault with the wiring harness you have got or at least something is wired up incorrect

Thanks for the help, iv managed to suss it anyway. As you said I decided to bolt the ground wire to the metal surround. Also decided to cut the orange illumination wire on the harness and for some reason this has now solved the problem and sound now comes out of the speakers without the lights turned on.
    Cheers

I recon the orange illumination wire was in the wrong place and maybe the electric aerial/ amp remote was going to it

    At least it's sorted now
