    Correct.

You can drive with no tax to and from the testing station, but it must be pre booked. Although, you can still get fined etc if you've got bald tyres etc. Also, its got to be insured.

The police do check if its booked, i've been there!

Also, i'll just add, a car must be fully mot'd and taxed when being towed (on four wheels) on a public highway.

    So now you know!
Sold my Astra to buy a house.

    Now drive a 205 GTI 2.0 16v

    Cheap and Chearfull!

As long as its road worthy or from what you or the police can look at it to be safe and its booked in for an m.o.t then they will let you take it to and fromteh test centre but know where else but it will be down to the copper if you get pulled as some will give u the benifit of the doubt but others will be right *******s.

if the car is booked for a test you can drive to the testing centre without mot and tax but you cannot drive it there to book the test. if stopped the police will just follow you to the test centre to check it is booked in. if your in doubt get in touch with your local police station and get them to confirm this

There is a legal exemption which allows a vehicle to be driven directly to or from a pre-booked Mot test, even if it has no tax or Mot. It MUST be insured and the test MUST be pre-booked.
