    upgrade rear speakers

how much work is it to upgrade the rear speakers in my mk4 3door? want to put 6x9s in.

plus how would i be able to get the trim off without damage, plus for the fronts?

what size are the speakers aswell.

    cheers

If you do a serech mate , you should bring it up, also without sounded insulting the speakers are 6inches by 9inches hence the name. Need to consider depth of your speaker too, but like i said mike got asub in so 6x9's will definitely go.

To get access to the rear speakers you really need to remove the rear seat to get the quarter trims off.
Once you're in there the standard speakers are just basc 6" dual cone cheapies, but they are easily replaced. If you are fitting 6x9's you will need to open out the speaker mounting hole in the metalwork & maybe fit an MDF plate.

To change the fronts you need to remove the door cards. Do a search here for how to do this, it's been covered many times.
The standard fronts are a cheap 6" mid/tweeter component set. To replace them you will need a set of "custom fit" adaptors rings to mount the mids. Normallly about 10-15 from Autoleads or the like.

I think there is a How To on fitting 6x9's in the rear.

so you cant just swap the standard 17cm front speakers for aftermarket ones?
