    de-cat ?

Can anyone tell me what a de-cat entails ? Is it replacing the standard cat with a high flow sports cat section or is it something else? Is this a legal mod and mot friendly. Thinking about it for 1.8 coupe for a few more bhp.

    Thanks

It involves replacing the cat with a straight piece of pipe - it's not legal or MOT friendly.

Plus depending what engine you've got it might throw the ECU into a fit as it expects a cat to be there.

Save you pennies for a 200cell sports cat

Thanks for the advice. Dont think I'll be doing the de-cat now then! Have seen courtenay do a sports cat like you mentioned but its nearly 400 notes. Do you know what sort of bhp to expect from the sports cat bearing in mind mines only the 1.8 or is it just a mod for the turbo people ?

i have de-catted my coupe but it is a different engine zlet and no ecu faults and does drive alot better but i do have the pre-cat still in there,

i reakon its a good mod to do but never had a sport cat cant comment on these....

but imo i think de-cats are worth going for if it dnt upset you car and its well well cheaper than a sports cat...

Well you're buggered then - as the cat is part and parcel of the exhaust manifold. The only realistic option, is to get a Lexmaul one, but these run out at over £600. The the Regal website for more gen, or do a search on here for "lexmaul manifold"
