Does this sound like a dodgy water pump?!

Hey guys just a quicky. Yesterday i pulled up and switched the engine off and water sprayed all over the engine from the left hand side just under the left corner of the engine cover (Z18XE), it seemed to come from one of the two hoses there but with the cover in place i couldnt see, it emptied the entire contents of the coolant tank! Now does this sound like a screwed water pump to you??
    Any help much appreciated

Not really - sounds like a straight forward coolant leak (pos thermostat prob) - but this is where the water pump is located.

Water pump going normally coincides with some horrible screeching noise to start with.

Also would have meant that the temp would have shot up and if thermostat gone a cold rad/hot engine.

More info needed really, but not conclusively water pump.

Should be in tech section btw.

Well it only happened after i switched the engine off, the temp meter was saying jus under 90 deg. Put more water in and it hasnt done it again, didnt think to check whether the radiator was hot or not but the engine was certainly hot enough. What info would you need??
    PS sorry bout wrong section

Check the hose connections first and look for any splits in the pipework.

Hose connections all seem fine, and as far as we can see there arent any splits anywhere. The damn thing hasnt lost any water at all since this

My old corsa B did this, the water just suddenly emptied all over the place when i turned the engine off. It did it twice on seperate occasions, and we never found a leak anywhere..... it didnt do it after that... was really wierd couldnt figure out why it had done it at all!

Nevertheless i sold the car 2 months later and made double my money back on it haha

Your best off getting the car into a garage for them to look at it and see if they can see anything, then when you know the problem come back and see if people on here say its an easy job to fix and then do it yourself if possible.

Yeah it is strange it aint done it since. A mechanic mate of mine says hes heard of water pumps causing it while others say it could be the thermostat. Im gunna get it into a garage and if they dont have a clue jus change the pump and stat then pray. lol
