    Car wont start

Just gone out to get some lunch at work and the car wont start

I turn the key and everything lights up like normal and the car turns over but doesnt fire up.

Its an Mk4 Astra GSI Turbo 53 reg.

Called vauxhall who are 100 metres down the road from my work but they cant come out and look at it as they are not insured to do so. So ive had to call the AA who are on there way out within the next hour or so.

Only had the car a few months so under warrenty which is all good but enoying as its got to go into vaux to be looked at.

Anyone else had this problem with their astra?

reggie69, change the batt on your key, 2min job and battery is dirt cheap. If the alarm keeps going off after that, it will be your powersounder, Vauxhall will charge around £120 - £150 to change this, infact the part only costs £40 odd and can be changed yourself with a little know how. use the search feature and you will find all you need! yous is about the age when the powersounder goes.

chrisvenn, hopefully it will be something really simple, glad your under warrenty! let us know how you get on!

u have approx 3mins to exchange battery in order to retain the settings. Failing that all u need to do *supposedly altho I aint tried it incase it dont work* is resynchronize the remote by inserting key - switch on ignition and briefly press any button within 30secs - doors should lock then unlock to confirm all is ok. This is what the owners manual states altho Ive never tried it.

Well the AA came and did his checks and the fuel pump isnt pumping any fuel through the car and isnt making any noise. When he sprayed fuel into the airbox the car started for a few seconds.

So I got toed to vaux (100m from my work) and now they have the car and are looking at it for me.

Well lets hope thats all it is - I had this happen on a previous car of mine - when I dismantled the system - the contacts were a bit loose - feck knows how. Anyway good luck and glad to see its under warranty. Hopefully every1s faults on this thread will be sorted asap!
