this being an astra site, and the GSi being pretty much the top sports model of them what do you expect everyone on here to think of them

Right then i have had two of the buggers now so here goes

yes get one as you will love it

as for common faults just look in the Z20LET section to see but they suffer from the same MAF fault as the VAG 1.8T engines. Also they get problems with the actuator control vales but they are not as common a fault and only cost £20 to replace

oh and the seats can sometimes squeek if they werent greased right at factory but this can be sorted with a days fiddling and some good grease

as for the DV yes you can put an atmospheric one on its own but expect the engine to be choppy and they leak very easy. most people run both the OEM ones and the baileys wich seems to work well and still gives the noise (but not as loud)

hope that helps and welcome to the site

personally, with that kind of money id look for a SRi-turbo instead of a GSi,
the GSi's can be got for under £8500 but would be a cheap one still,
get an SRi-T will be a year or so older with no leather, but apart from that not alot of difference, could find one for £7000 easily enough so would have enough money left over for plenty of engine mods, or fit a leather interior and still be left with £1000 for the engine which should see a few few extra horses out of it,

    EDIT:
also with the SRi-T being a ltd edition model, if your thinking of keeping it for a lon time will prob not devalue as much

well holding the value aint its best part i am affraid as i learnt to well with my first one

bought it for £14k and traded it in 6 months later for £11k

however they have lost most of their value now so you wont loose as much
and if your keeping it for a while it will be fine

    where are you based then?
