    Question VXR Turbo Unit

    Morning every1

Quick question, is there any advantages (ie performance gains or general running) of fitting the VXR turbo unit and actuator to a standard sri turbo (currently done 37k).

    Thanks v much, JP

The turbo has stronger internals over the standard turbo so is capable of running more boost say with phase 3 sortware.

The Actuator however can either be changed or has to be wound off as it is a 12-14psi version standard on the VXR turbo which is no good with the standard or phase 2 maps as it will produce too much boost.

Turbo is fine to be used as standard need to adjust or change the Actuator accordingly.

    Hope this helps mate.

    kewl, thanks for the reply

so if for arguments sake i was to get one (with the intention of eventually remapping), i would be ok putting the vxr turbo on my standard car, but would have to adjust the actuator - just to clarify?

    Thanks v much again, JP

You could just use the standard actuator off your old turbo if it was ok. Then later change back to the VXR one when you took it for a remap.

Apparently you have to have some kind of software as well, as the Turbo produces alot of boost and if not correctly addressed could cause problems to the engine. Regals can cater for this (even running standard intercooler).

I'm thinking of going this route over the next couple of months.

    Cheers

Thats to do with the Actuator, not the turbo. Change it and its fine on the standard car.
