Thumbs Down Failed my MOT!!! Help!

Well i'm not a happy bunny!!

an hour sitting doing nothing whilst my car fails on headlight alignment

What can i do???? I'm gonna take out the cheap ebay bulbs (probably what caused it to fail) and put in my old standard ones.

Although they are the same bulb (H7) so i can't see how its going to help.

    Anyone got any ideas??

I'm going back in tomorrow so it can be done free on the retest within 24hrs.

    Any help much appreciated

I'd have thought the guys at the garage would have re-aligned the lights up and passed it there and then if that was the only issue. Bulbs shouldnt really make a difference unless ur talkin those ultra shitty ebay ones. the headlight aim is adjusted on the headlight unit irrespective of bulbs. Good luck and hope its sorted.

Odd they didn't adjust them for you, as they normally do. Even so, it's just a case of going to a garage with a beam setter and getting them sorted, it'll only cost a few quid.

It's nothing to do with the bulbs - it's the direction the beams are pointing that is the fault

Bulbs won't make any difference so not worth changing them. Take it back and ask them to set them up but can't see why they never done it in the first place. You got standard headlights or aftermarket ones?

Can't see any problem then, I'd just take it to somewhere else then take the car back for a check up and tell them there's nothing wrong with the allignment.

My old KA failed on headlight alignment. They charged me about Ł5 and passed it.

My Escort also failed headlight alignment again, they adjusted it and charged me Ł5 and then passed it on the MOT.

Something that has just come into my mind. MOT's have changed its all done online now and you have to do everything online and you have to be logged on to the DVLA for 40mins (or something like that) each car (IE you can't log off start another car or fix a bracket so it won't fail). So I don't know if the new DVLA system gives you a 1 shot go at it???? But thats what I'd put my money on. They should offer a free retest if you let them do the work though shorly?

Go to a different garage. Clearly they are just after your money, charging you twice for something that could have been done in one go.

    TBH pretty crap customer service.

It will be done on a free retest (Or it should) as they have a guide on what can fail (Major or minor) and that will be a minor.

It takes longer to get your car on the ramp than it would have taken them to adjust your lights.
