    Turbo Noob Advice..

going to be getting a SRi-T asap so after some quick and simple advice,

never owned a turbo before, most powerful car ive owned is my Z18XE (which i will be keeping aswell) so after some basic advice on what i might need to do to look after it, what problems i should expect, and cheap mods that are available,

also one question ive got aswell, i kno some people think they are tacky but i love them....dump valves...love the sound they make and are there some decent/cheap ones around? how much to they cost and how easy are they to fit...

basically im after to very basic advice (bear in mind ive never owned a turbo, and only ever been in a couple)

also sorry if these have been asked again and again but i couldnt find the answers...thanks,

Turbos arent cheap and if you mod them spend the money on doing it right otherwise you will mess it up

no i understand that, i dont plan on modding it really for a fair time as i cant afford it and the standard power will be fine,

things i ment are for expample the derestricting the airbox, veccy pipe, etc are they still applicable to the Z20LET?
ive heard of people fitting a 2.2 airbox what is the point in this and what does it do?
DV's how much are they and how easy to fit (im an idiot under the bonnet so needs to be easy unless i get someone else to do it)

i would like to say ill get a big FMIC remap etc etc etc, but no money for it so just want to know the simple things i should do, and what i would do to look after it...basic oil changes....rotate the wheels etc ( cant see why with it only being fwd) but that type of thing

    Simple care :

    - try to avoid booting it before the engine has warmed up properly
    - take it easy near the end of your journey to allow it to cool gently
    - regular oil changes ~ every 5k

    - Have FUN !

Easiest option for you then is to just chill going to work and enjoy it coming home with a 20 mile detour !

Thats one of reasons I bought a Mk III 1.4 as the short journeys to and from work and the stupid start stop shopping trips at week-ends the Mrs used to do for her folks drove me nuts and I was constantly putting in petrol.

The SRi T only comes out when I know I got a good trip to do (i.e. shows and meets ), and with the aide of devices as Turbo Timers to help with cool down of the blower all help with maintaining it and keeping it in fine working order, also as Mr Coo says in general dont be silly and it will be fine with the right care and attention. Its all from the same place. The turbo draws its oil from the sump.
