    Rear wheel whining noise - mk4 888

My 888 makes a whining noise when "rolling" near stopping, de-clutched, sound seems to come from the rear wheels. Questioned this with the previous owner and he said it was because the breaks were close to the discs and he had it checked out before and noting could be done about it. Any other 888 owners experienced this?
    Cheers,
    Steve.

Ive got the same problem Steve. My 888 is whining just as im about to stop as i press the brakes. Seems to be coming from the rear wheels and the front left wheel. ??

Personally i think its either the brake discs or like you say brakes to close to the discs. Hopefully it will stop as im having the whole car changed to AP Racing brakes. Ive got the fronts just waiting for the back setup to arrive.

Whats your discs like at the back as mine are really rusty and corrodid ? My front brake calipers are the same as well as the outer rims of the discs. Thats why im having them all changed.

As i belive its the brakes that are causing the whine. Sometimes when i drive down a narrow road i can hear a little squeaky rubbing sound as well.

Its been doing my head in. Im positive its the brakes.

It's probably sticking calipers - a common on any astra, not just the 888.

Do a seach for "lucas bosch" and you'll get loads of gen on exactly what the problem is, and how to sort it. I'd offer more but I'm off to kip now
