    betamax,mini disc and now UMD

    sony has made another fek up with the UMD format, hardly anyone is buyint the umd movied for the psp, so bad that wal mart are going to stop selling them

    lets hope the game scene picks up on the PSP, because right now i wish i hadnt got it, no good games out for it and not heard of any good ones in the future !

    this doesn't bode well for their next one... blu ray...

    i swear sony should give up on making proprietary data storage media, they just have no luck in that area despite often having the superior technology.

    Minidisc was OK - I had a MD deck for a long time. One of my housemates still uses a Kenwood MD head unit, and he has a wee Sony personal MD that he uses to copy stuff onto the MDs.

    Its a pitty mini discs werent developed further, was a good idea.... but i reckon it will be tricky when it comes too the next gen DVD's... two major formats battleing, is this still happening?

    I've got a minidisk HU in my MG, It was a good idea, but MP3's just wipe the floor with anything really
    Sold my Astra to buy a house.

    Now drive a 205 GTI 2.0 16v

    Sony make many mistakes, I for one hate sony and their incompatibily with every other interface!

    However, the new blue ray format will be very cool! Hopefully someone will try to bring out a cheaper more compatible version

    I still use my minidisc seperate most of my tunes are on minidisc.
    Gonna need to stock up on UMDs for the PSP now then

    a friend of mine uses his minidisc for work on the radio still
    but you cant out do the them for recording on the go can you the DAT was good as well but minidisc is the one to go for still
    but if its stuff you want to make at home or just playing you cant beat CDR's

    I like smaller formats like Minidisc and the UMD where the disk is protected by an outer plastic case, thats a good idea Problem is any new format will be initially more expensive to prduce than CD/DVD's so its always gonna be hard to persuade the public to part with extra cash to fund it
