who would come out quickest (santa pod)

    hi all!

i got a mate with a calibra 4x4 turbo & is doin my head in about how quick his car is, i know it is a fast car but u can only hear it so many times

aaaanyway after recently goin to courtenays & havin a load of work done, hes found out but is still givin it the large & wants to challenge me at PVS this year.i'm goin on 9th april to a RWYB so i can secretly see what kinda time i'm gettin without a high octane booster.

my car has new CSS3,LFMI,uprated clutch & flywheel, uprated actuator, uprated cool stat, counrtenays front pipe & pre cat system & will have the 2.2 airbox mod this weekend.

his car is standard (as far as i know...may have zaust system)

are the calibra 4x4 turbo engines REALLY that good?!?!?

well a cally turbo must be around 7-7.5 secs to 60 and a good 140mph.

    2.2 is 8.2 secs to 60 an 135mph .

He will have the edge imo

He's got 4x4 so he'll get more grip and a better launch. Then you'll gain and overtake him before the 1/4 finish.

Thats the prob with the Astra Turbo's .... FWD.

Ah apologise, if you have a turbo i reckon you will have him by a margin, he will get better starts but you wont be far off with the tc system.

cally turbo is 6.6 to 60 and over 150mph, a good engine in standard form will knock out atleast 230bhp

if he launches it of the line it will be close, if you both pull away together you may have the edge on the second 1/8 mile.

If his car is standard you should win, yes, he will be quicker off the line but the Astra is lighter and will be putting out more power. Now a modified Cally T would be a different proposition. I know people with modified Cally Turbo's, and a good one with working 4x4 will hit 60 in less than 5 seconds. Fantastic cars, but due to their age and poor design of four wheel drive system, they just cost a lot to maintain.
